Phil Dale has over 20 years’ experience producing high quality, pantomimes with a traditional feel yet a modern twist. He has been the resident pantomime producer at South Mill Arts, Bishop’s Stortford in Hertfordshire (2010-2019) and Harlow Playhouse, in Harlow, Essex (1997-2009). Since 2021 PJD Productions have been pantomime producers at The Sub Rooms, in Stroud, Gloucestershire and are looking to recruit new partner venues for pantomime.

We have a proven track record of continually growing a pantomime audience in terms of ticket sales, turnover and profitability. We achieved nearly £100k growth in gross box office return between 2015 and 2019.
With over 20 years pantomime experience we have devised an effective strategy across production, marketing and pricing to ensure not just financial viability but commercial success.
Each partner venue we work with has a specific marketing and pricing plan based on extensive research of the local area, historical sales, demographics and venue capacity.

Our Press and PR team work really hard to develop brilliant review opportunities for all our productions, from national press to local radio we utilise tactics like press days, launch days and cast interactions. However, this is only part of the strategy as all our positive reviews are built on a bedrock of production excellence, experience choreography and effective casting.

We grow audiences
Working with us ensures partnering with an organisation who look at a long term growth strategy for our pantomime. A recent pantomime contract saw audience numbers increase year on year for five straight years.
Whether it be maintaining existing audiences through effective pricing and excellence in production values or developing new audiences through marketing or outreach we take a long term view to all strategies in partnership with a venue.
Through effective PR and building partnerships within the local community we aim to build a quality and sustainable pantomime with massive growth opportunity.

We engage with the community
PJD Productions have extensive knowledge of integrating the local community in high quality theatre production.
We pride ourselves, as pantomime producers, on the fact that all of our pantomimes have benefitted from the involvement of the local community from both an audience and performance perspective. We hold open auditions for the chorus of our pantomimes and look to create groups of young local performers, all of whom will appear in the shows.
These performers will not be restricted to appearing in just a couple of dance numbers in the briefest moment, as is the case with community choruses in many established ‘professional’ pantomimes. They will play a full and active part in the production and be fully involved with the production at the same level as the professional performers and production team.
Our aim is always to create a team who are all working towards the same goal of creating and delivering excellence. Our extensive list of Alumni who are now working at the highest level of the industry is testament to the benefits of this approach.

We pride ourselves on our customer feedback. All our productions are subjected to our extensive customer feedback programme. This allows us to review the performances of everything from our performers to our sets and everything inbetween. Our last pantomime rendered less than 1% negative feedback.
